To investigate the capabilities of microbial bio-electrochemical systems which can play a central role in water quality and sanitation management
The goal of this project is to introduce SSM derived catalysts as efficient, inexpensive and scalable nano-materials for industrial-level application in microbial bioelectrochemical systems.
A new generation of non-PGM catalysts will be developed tailored for activity at neutral pH, unacceptability to poisoning, and suitability for integration in microbial bioreactors. These catalysts will be characterized and used in microbial fuel cell systems in cooperation with the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (current BMGF grantee).
