Content - Summary

Research has shown that plants are generally able to take up pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical residues were also found in edible plant parts such as carrot roots and cereal grains when dosed in the respective concentrations. So far it seems that the low pharmaceutical concentrations provided with urine are unlikely to affect plant development and growth. They showed only phytotoxic effects when they were in contact with concentrations higher than those expected for human urine.
