ECOSAN is a concept that is based on the separation of human waste into its components, the products are then being sanitized and reused. The Ecosan principle has been used in a remote way hundreds of years before this current refinement in countries such as China and India. This sanitation system has been looked at as the ideal system with potential benefits of recycling of products. Ecosan toilets should be used by all the members of society including children and the disabled. However, inherent problems in the current construction of the Ecosan toilet may limit its usability by these two groups.
