The main goal of this SCST-project was to develop new sustainable sanitation concepts which have significant advantages in relation to ecological as well as to economical aspects compared to the conventional systems (end-of-pipe-system). Further gaols were to yield experiences on design, installation and operation. Of great interest were also the functionality and reliability of the demonstration plant, the cleaning efficiency of the connected treatment units and the user acceptance.
