6th Africa Water Week

The Africa Water Week (AWW) is organized by the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) in conjunction with the African Union Commission. The Africa’s flagship water event represents a political commitment at the highest level for creating platform to discuss and collectively seek solutions to Africa’s water and sanitation challenges. The event which attracts over 1000 participants from governments, regional institutions, international partners, the private sector, the scientific community, civil society, and the media from all over the world, and in particular Africa is held biennially.
Further Description / Program
The 6th Africa Water Week (AWW-6) will be convened from 18th - 22nd July 2016 under the auspices of the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) in conjunction with the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission and supported by several partners. The conference will be hosted by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania represented by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation.
AWW-6, the first under the SDG era has as its theme “Setting the Platform for Implementing the SDGs on Water Security and Sanitation.” It will be organized under five sub themes:
• Achieving Universal and Equitable Access to Water and Sanitation for All
• Water Security for Sustainable Development
• Productive Wastewater Management and Sustainable Water Quality
• Building Water and Climate Resilience
• Financing the implementation of the SDG 6
