Malnutrition presents significant threats to human health and economic development. Today, the world faces the double burden of malnutrition—undernutrition and obesity— in both developed and developing countries. Solutions to this problem are complex and require collaborative, multi-sectoral and integrated efforts among actors including the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments, academia, and donor agencies. Partnerships built from these collaborative efforts offer enormous potential for innovation across sectors as well as leveraging of resources and capabilities for improving the nutrition of vulnerable populations.
To strengthen our skill in working across thematic sectors with different partners, particularly the private sector, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and members of the private sector, NGOs, academia and donor community will come together in Nairobi, Kenya from November 14-16, 2016 to learn from, share experiences and motivate each other in Responding with the Private Sector for Greater Nutrition Impact. Global leaders in the areas of nutrition, water and sanitation, agriculture, health and early childhood development, education, and gender will come together to share tools, technologies, practices, business models, and multi-sectoral partnership strategies for improving nutritional outcomes for vulnerable populations.
