The summit started in 2001 at a time when toilets and sanitation remained low on the global agenda.
Billions in the world have no access to proper sanitation. Meanwhile decision makers lacked education, technical expertise and platforms to collaborate towards improvement of conditions.
The summit started in Singapore where it was first inaugurated on 19th Nov 2001. Since then, we have successfully organised 15 World Toilet Summits around the world.

Further Description / Program

By bringing together governments, international institutions, private sector and NGOs, the World Toilet Summit aims to empower delegates, expertise and resources in scaling up impact and innovation in the sanitation sector.

The project database contains nearly 400 sanitation projects of many different organizations dealing with research, implementation, advocacy, capacity development etc. Advanced filtering functions and a global map are also available. Information on how and why this database was created is here.
