The LATINOSAN Conferences are international events held every three years, with the aim of promoting access to quality and sustainable sanitation services in urban and rural areas. The aim is to position the issue of sanitation as a priority in the agendas of the countries; as it is one of the essential factors for improving health conditions, it improves the competitiveness of countries and contributes to sustainable development; likewise, it is a benchmark to achieve the commitments acquired in the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), especially Objective 6.
The first Latin American LATINOSAN Sanitation Conference was held in November 2007, in the City of Cali, Colombia, with the participation of 17 countries. At the end of the Conference, the countries signed the "Cali Declaration", highlighting the commitment and political will to achieve the goals of basic sanitation and thus achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
