The World Toilet Summit’s Organizing Committee has considered Latin America to host the new edition in 2019. The event constantly happens yearly in the month of November with the celebration of the World Toilet Day – November 19th. Sao Paulo was chosen to host the event in 2019 on November 18th and 19th this year.

Over the world, the WASH issues are shocking, even in the middle of the 21st Century there are more than 1 billion people who have no access to a toilet, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and Unicef. Although Sao Paulo, the host of the event in 2019, has a better situation regarding accesses to toilets and sanitation than the rest of Brazil, there are still developments to pursue throughout the country.
Choosing Brazil to host the World Toilet Summit has a significant meaning, once the official numbers in the country, according to the Brazil Federal Government, approximately 35 million people do not have access to potable water – equivalent to Canada’s population - and nearly 100 million people still live in dwells with no access to sanitation – twice the population of Spain. 46% of the wastewater in Brazil are treated, the rest of the untreated sewage flows to several rivers, streams, oceans and etc. In terms of residences with no access to toilet, in Brazil this number is 1,6 million. The World Toilet Summit Brasil 2019 will be honoured with the presences of Heads of State, such as Ministries, Governors and Secretaries; journalists; sanitation specialists from Brazil and other’s South America nations; etc.
