This three day programme is designed to help participants gain a deep understanding of WASH in Schools programming for policy and implementation It provides an in depth coverage of planning a WinS programme, operation and maintenance models, behaviour change strategies, technologies and design aspects, sustaining WinS at scale, benchmarking and performance improvement plans and impact assessment

School water supply, sanitation and hygiene education have a profound impact on the learning outcomes and health of children Government of India ( has taken several
policy initiatives to enhance Water Sanitation and Hygiene ( in schools which
have been suitably taken forward by state governments The most prominent initiative
that demonstrates the progress of WASH in schools of India is the launch of a mission for WASH in schools, the Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya ( by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI ( in October 2014 SBSV aimed to ensure
that all schools in India have access to separate toilets for boys and girls, promoting
safe and appropriate hygiene practices in schools and behaviour among children
Success of WASH in Schools programme depends upon the motivation and capacities of the multiple stakeholders involved Therefore there is a need to significantly increase the number of professionals with the capacity to plan, implement, monitor, sustain, manage and/ or oversee WASH in Schools initiatives in India A large pool of trained professionals are required who will cater to the capacity building needs of India’s 15 5 lakh government schools and their stakeholders in a cascading mode.
The programme will act as a platform for WASH professionals, corporate, foundations and representatives from government to discuss and share best practices The programme adopts an interactive approach with a blend of lectures, case studies, video films, simulation exercises, exchange of experiences, knowledge checks, WASH audit, quizzes and group discussions.
