Building on Indonesia's brilliant contributions to the FSM6 conference, this FSMA Spotlights webinar will present some updates about recent sanitation activities and achievements in the country.
The Republic of Indonesia, a nation spread out over more than 17.000 islands and with a population of more than 270 million, is on a journey to improve sanitation service delivery across the country. With limited sewer-availability, Indonesia will rely heavily on on-site sanitation systems and FSM to achieve their target to provide access to safely-managed sanitation for 15% of the population by 2024.
For the 6th International Faecal Sludge Management Conference (FSM6) in 2021, Indonesia was selected to be the host country due to its innovative approaches to incorporating FSM into its urban sanitation plans. One year after the conference, we wanted to take the opportunity to examine the most recent developments in the Indonesian sanitation sector.
