Can embodied energy help in assessing wastewater systems holistically? This side event focussed on determining system boundaries for climate mitigation in sanitation programmes using an energy footprint perspective.
The discussion addressed questions like; when looking at defining the ideal system boundaries for assessing a wastewater system holistically should embodied energy be considered? What happens to the energy footprint when the system boundary is expanded to take into consideration the impact of reusing wastewater in agriculture?
This side event was held during the IWA Water Congress and exhibition which took place on 21-26 September, 2014 in Lisbon.
