The NSS Conference, organized jointly by IWA and WRC in Johannesburg, is just around the corner (15th to 18th October). This conference is dedicated to expediting the implementation of non-sewered sanitation solutions in the Global South to help achieve the SDG sanitation targets.
The SuSanA secretariat won't be able to attend in person, but many members and partners of SuSanA will be present and actively participating and making significant contributions throughout the event.

Workshop 2: Framework for Water Wise and Sanitation Secure Resilient Cities

This session, organized by IWA in collaboration with the NSS Specialist Group, targets policymakers, practitioners, regulators, utilities, researchers, and academics. It aims to reshape the global urban sanitation agenda, emphasizing inclusivity, resilience, and water-wise practices, with a focus on addressing sanitation disparities and climate-related challenges. The objective is to bring together global actors to deliberate on expanding IWA's Water-Wise principles to include sanitation and align them with broader goals for resilient cities and environmental conservation.
Workshop 3: Knowledge café for practitioners – Scaling-up lessons for successful non-sewered sanitation (NSS) Solutions

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India, is organizing a Knowledge Cafe with an aim to bring together state-of-art lessons of policy, planning and implementation of NSS in the Global South. The Knowledge Cafe sessions will cover topics such as NSS experiences in India and Bangladesh, addressing affordability and sustainability in desludging, performance assessment of Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs), design considerations of FSTPs including capacity, cost, and climate factors, national strategies for capacity building in NSS, and understanding institutional Domestic Wastewater Treatment systems through successful case examples from India and Bangladesh.
