1. Next SuSanA meeting at Africa Water Week in EgyptThe 15th SuSanA meeting will be held in Cairo, Egypt. This SuSanA meeting is different from previous ones, as it will be integrated into the main event, the 4th Africa Water Week (AWW) which takes place from 14-18 May 2012. SuSanA is part of a group of organisations that is shaping Theme 1 entitled "Water and Sanitation for Development". Within this theme, SuSanA will co-convene Session 7 called "Sustainable sanitation and the role of hygiene in the value chain". The 1st draft programme is available here. If you are attending the AWW and would like to join the SuSanA's session, side event and the informal get-together on the evening of 15 May (Tuesday) please e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. SuSanA partners and members can also use SuSanA's exhibition booth to display their materials.
Attendees will need to register for the AWW and get their visas on their own. An invitation letter is issued by the organisers of AWW. Partner News: Network and promote your organisation through SuSanAAre you using the SuSanA network to link up with other partners on prospective projects and collaborations? Please use this opportunity for networking through SuSanA with its currently 178 organisations, hundreds of experts and practitioners. We want to provide you with new ways of networking. You can put up your news and achievements on the frontpage of the SuSanA website www.susana.org. Just post your announcement on the forum in the partner news section and the SuSanA secretariat will then link it to facebook and the the frontpage:
Partner News: WAND Foundation (Philippines) is the first partner to share one of their milestones on an emergency response after a Typhoon on the frontpage of the SuSanA webpage. The news is on the frontpage for several days and continues to stay online in the news section. 3. SuSanA is growing: We announce 3 new partners

The SuSanA secretaria and Working Group 8 on "Emergency and reconstructions situations" welcomes Jan Heeger from WASTE (The Netherlands) as the new lead who volunteers his time and expertise.

6. New photo sets and videos on SuSanA database
The sustainable sanitation flickr database now has in total over 7100 photos and our youtube account now has over 40 uploaded videos and numerous favourite videos. These are some of the new additions:

Recommended reading: Construction of bench style UDDTsA new publication from Rotaria del Peru SAC has been published in English and Spanish which we would like to recommend for reading: "Construction of bench style double vault urine diversion toilet and alternatives" and in Spanish "Opciones de construcción de Baños Secos con Eco-Sanitarios de Rotária".
This is an excellent construction manual for bench style UDDTs. When using the bench design the user sits directly on the vault. This has the advantage of reducing the required number of stairs. 8.
