On September 1-6, the 2013 World Water Week took place as water professionals, government officials,researchers and business leaders came together in the Swedish capital to seek common solutions to the most pressing global challenges relating to water and development. The theme of this year was “Water Cooperation – Building Partnerships”.
Every year, for over 20 years, the World Water Week has brought together participants from all sectors and from more than 120 countries worldwide. The 2013 World Water Week explored the relationships between water users, between countries, and between professional communities, at local, national and global levels. They looked into the inter-relations that characterise the broader context in which water is managed like the Water-Energy-Food nexus, and Transboundary Water Cooperation and aimed to identify and recognise both the barriers for, and the benefits of,cooperation.
