The International Faecal Sludge Management Conference (FSM2) took place in Durban, South Africa, from 29 to 30 October 2012. On the evening of the opening day of the FSM2 conference a SuSanA networking side event took place. The event was well attended with over 50 people in attendance. The discussions that took place in an open forum style centered around feedback to the secretariat on people's experience using the platform, suggestions for further improvement and the upcoming SuSanA strategy process was discussed.
The 16th meeting was held in Stockholm, Sweden on 31 August 2012 and 1 September 2012, directly after the Stockholm World Water Week 2012 (SWWW). The meeting was hosted by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the SuSanA secretariat (at GIZ, Germany).
The 15th SuSanA meeting was held in Cairo, Egypt. This SuSanA meeting was different from previous ones, as it was integrated into the main event, the 4th Africa Water Week which took place from 14-18 May 2012. SuSanA convened Session 8 of Sub-theme 1 ("Water and Sanitation for Development") in the main program as well as two side events.
Re-thinking sanitation from a sustainability perspective: SuSanA products and outcomes
This SuSanA seminar took place at the 16th edition African Water Association’s (AfWA’s) Water and Sanitation Congress on 22 February 2012 in Marrakech, Morocco. It focused on the activities of SuSanA with a special focus on its working group on Operation and maintenance and on re-thinking sanitation to achieve the Millennium Development Goals sustainably.
