Sanitation Training Program for German NGOs (2011)

The German Toilet Organization (GTO), in collaboration with the ecosan program of the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), has developed a training program for German NGOs. The GTO has been inundated with requests from right across the NGO spectrum asking for assistance in understanding the field of sanitation, and in response GIZ and GTO have started a series of training sessions in late 2010.

The main-goals of the two-day training sessions are to discuss how specific technological solutions and sociological approaches can be applied, as well as giving an insight into the particular problems that may serve to hinder successful project implementation. The first training took place on 23 to 24 October 2010 at the GIZ headquarters in Eschborn. Since then two to three workshops are held every year. In addition, the GTO developed an advanced training course for those who have already participated in the seminar.

In autumn 2012 the GTO will offer new training courses on Emergency Sanitation and Hygiene promotion.

Upcoming workshop dates:

27./28. 10. 2012 – Workshop sanitatation - Leipzig
